General Robert Howe letter, 1779.

The collection consists of one ALS written by Major-General Robert Howe in Charleaston, South Carolina to General Benjamin Lincoln, his successor in command of the Department of the South. The letter is five pages, quarto, and is dated January 23, 1779. An address leaf is included. The letter concerns the transfer of command of the army of the Department of the South in Savannah from Howe to Lincoln.
